The name Helices, the plural of “helix,” references both the structure of DNA and the word “Ulysses,” the hero of the epic poem <\/span>The Odyssey. <\/span><\/em>The name was chosen to evoke both a mythic journey and the twining, creative, evolutionary nature of the work. Helices includes 2D and 3D visual art, writing, songwriting, music production, and videography.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The project is structured into twelve movements, each roughly two weeks long. Each movement culminates in a \u201ccross\u201d (the strands of the spiral coming together), where the artists exchange and discuss whatever responses they have created to the previous cross. This process of provocation, response, and switch is repeated each movement.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    3. Set a cadence<\/strong> \u2014 the rhythm of your working agreement (with yourself and\/or others).<\/li>\n \t

    6. It\u2019s okay to not know<\/strong> where you\u2019re going.<\/li>\n \t

    9. Try a tilt.<\/strong> Change dimension, direction, medium, genre.<\/li>\n \t

    11. When absorbing another\u2019s work, offer sensations rather than suggestions<\/strong> (i.e., no \u201cfeedback\u201d).<\/li>\n \t
