provocation

In her Movement 10, Binda wrote a song, transcribed the sun’s duet with the ocean, and (of course) did some drawing and painting as well.

This movement was a culmination for me, full of references to all our other movements.

At our tenth Cross, which happened at the Upper Bend restaurant in Turner’s Falls, Binda had slid the sheet of lyrics she’d written across the table. “The inverse of never is a place to begin,” she’d written, and in that moment I knew there was a James Bond song in my future.

This is often how the Crosses worked for me — one small or specific thing in Binda’s response would pop me into a new world. Then I would tilt that idea around, feeling it in this direction and that, listening for the hum that told me “something’s alive here; keep going in this direction.”

If you’ve been through all the movements of this website, you’ll be primed to recognize all the artifacts and references in the music video. Enjoy.
