Next July, we will be installing Helices at the A.P.E. Gallery in Northampton, MA. As you may have noticed, as we moved through the movements the weaving of ideas and inputs — the crossing of strands — evolved from metaphor into reality. Binda wove paper and cord, our collaborator Dale wove firewood, and Jenny wove sound and imagery. Our exhibit at the A.P.E. Gallery — Movement 12 of this creative epic — will be the biggest weaving yet. Not only will we physically depict the connection between installed artifacts (using red tape or cord across the gallery), but we also hope and plan to engage gallery-goers and passersby to create additional intertwining strands by following their own red thread of aliveness. Prompts and physical materials in the gallery will give attendees something to take home and begin with.
